Our 2021-2022 Season
Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. After a six day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie's loopy mother and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their neighbor-in-the-attic Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does.
The Barn Theatre is dedicated to the health and safety of all our patrons and volunteers, and we require all cast and crew members to be fully Covid-vaccinated. Please note that proof of vaccination will be required at the time of auditions for all cast members and the first day of the build/rehearsal/tech for all crew/designers.
Paul and Corie Bratter are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-laced lawyer. She’s a free spirit always looking for the latest kick. Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive and in need of repair. After a brief honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother. When the couple decides to play matchmaker with their neighbor, Mr. Velasco, everything that can go wrong does.
"Barefoot in the Park " is presented by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
Actors are asked to arrive to sign in within the first hour of the audition start time. All roles are available except for the role of Ethel Banks. The Barn Theatre has an open casting policy for all our productions. As an organization, we are committed to diverse and inclusive casting and welcome all ethnicities and gender identities to audition. Newcomers are especially welcomed and encouraged!
Please note that during auditions, masks are required to be worn inside the Barn Theatre except for when you are on stage auditioning.
Corie Bratter: a free-thinking young woman who has just married Paul Bratter and who tries to decorate their apartment. Her main objective is to have new adventures, and she isn't very practical. Age looks late 20’s to mid 30’s.
Paul Bratter: is a young lawyer who marries Corie and is far more concerned with practical matters than she is. He does not like their uncomfortable, small apartment in a bohemian section of New York City and would prefer a more staid lifestyle than his wife. Age looks late 20’s to mid 30’s
Victor Velasco: is Corie and Paul's eccentric, womanizing neighbor who is a gourmet cook and who shares Corie's sense of fun and adventure. A middle-aged man, he lives in the attic above Corie and Paul's small apartment. He eventually winds up in a couple with Ethel after Corie sets them up on a blind date. Age looks 60’s+
Telephone repairman: he goes up, huffing and puffing, to Corie and Paul's new apartment in an attempt to fix the phone, and he witnesses their marital discord. Any age will also double as stage crew.
Delivery Man: Any age. The non-speaking role, but very funny. Also will double as stage crew.
